Fill The Bus School Supplies Drive
First National Bank of Gilmer is launching a drive to collect school supplies for area schools beginning July 11th through August 15th. The "FILL THE BUS SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE" is designed to help area schools and teachers with much needed supplies for the coming 2011-2012 school year.
Kelly Stretcher, President and Chief Executive Officer of First National Bank Gilmer said, "Too many times our area school teachers are coming out of their own pockets for school supplies for students whose families may not be able to afford them. We want to help make a difference for these teachers and students. We are asking for generous donations of school supplies and/or monetary donations which will be used to purchase supplies."
All school supply donations will be appreciated with special emphasis on 24 count crayons, Fiskers round tip scissors, #2 pencils, map colors-pkg. of 12, notebook paper-wide ruled, and glue sticks. Other donation options are backpacks, pencil boxes, copy paper, ziplock bags, yellow highlighters, elmer's school glue, etc.
Donation sites are First National Bank Lobby in Gilmer and Big Sandy. Other donation sites include Brookshires (Gilmer), Upshur County Library and Rebecca's. First National Bank employees will collect all supplies and distribute equally among the seven area school districts in Upshur County.
"We look forward to this "FILL THE BUS SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE" and plan to make this a yearly event for area schools", noted Mr. Stretcher.
